“You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.”- Jeremiah 29:13

God has said that His house was to be called a House of Prayer (Matthew 21:13). The Temple represented the presence of God among His people in Scripture. It was to be a place where His people humbled themselves before Him in light of Who He is and what He has done for them. We know that in the New Testament every person who places his or her faith in Christ becomes a Temple where the Spirit of God dwells. What an amazing truth upon which to dwell! However, our gatherings as His people should be known no less as a people of prayer.

We have been talking about what it means for us to become a House of Prayer for several months and here is the next step for us becoming a people who are seeking God.

When we consider the plight of our nation, the fracturing of a Christian worldview in our society, the decline of the American church, and the ever-increasing persecution of Christians, we must be found praying. In those words of David as he lamented the ridicule of Goliath before the Israelites let us too ask, “Is there not a cause?” The question answers itself as followers of Christ. Our seeking after God in prayer is always worth the battle. Indeed, it is the only way our battles are won.

• It is worth contending in prayer to the Lord for our own Spiritual lives!
• It is worth contending in prayer for our own family!
• It is worth contending in prayer for the spiritual hearts of our church family!
• It is worth us seeking the face of God for His hand of blessing and guidance!

I believe our greatest challenge as Christians is always a heart challenge. God declared, “Not by power, not by might, but by my Spirit, says the Lord Almighty” (Zechariah 4:6). Do we believe in our hearts that we need God to rescue us from ourselves? The gospel is about God rescuing us from our enslavement through our Redeemer, Christ Jesus.

Let us pray for a spiritual awakening and revival! God has not called us to do church, He has called us to love Him and to love others in transforming ways.

Imagine the kind of people we can become as we gather in this way for praying and seeking after God.

God has promised to reward those for seeking Him. Let’s claim this promise together.

“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened” (Matthew 7:7).
